This morning, Foreign Minister Gudlaugur Thór Thórdarson met in Reykjavík with US Deputy Assistant Secretary, Mr. Benjamin Ziff, and expressed the Icelandic Government's regrets and grave concerns regarding the executive order of the President of the United States on imposing a ban on refugees and citizens of seven countries entering the United States.

New Foreign Minister takes office - 11.1.2017

A Government of the Independence Party, the Reform Party and Bright Future has been formed and took office today.

Eleven ministers will take seat in the Government, six from the Independence Party, three from the Reform Party and two from Bright Future. Three of the current ministries, the Ministry of Industries and Innovation, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Welfare, will have two ministers each.
